I get many emails weekly from parents who write to me in frustration that their child is in desperate need of dyslexia tutoring but they just can’t afford it. Dyslexia tutoring is crazy expensive. I get it.
The two best reading programs for kids with dyslexia are Orton-Gillingham and Lindamood Bell. Lindamood Bell charges around $100 an hour and Orton-Gillingham tutors also charge around $100 an hour. Because it takes approximately 60-100 hours of tutoring to go up one grade level, the cost of either of these amazing reading programs would be $10,000! Yikes!
Here is my advice for all of those parents out there that need dyslexia tutoring for their kids but just can’t afford dyslexia tutoring.
Use the PRIDE Reading Program
The PRIDE Reading Program is an Orton-Gillingham research-based approach that has been proven successful in teaching students with dyslexia how to read. The PRIDE Reading Program meets all of the Orton-Gillingham criteria: it is language-based, multisensory, structured, systematic and cumulative. This Orton-Gillingham reading program is used worldwide and is highly effective. It has shown dramatic results with the students all over the globe. Teachers, parents and students using the PRIDE Reading Program have given it rave reviews and some have claimed that it is the best Dyslexia tutoring program out there!
Teach it Yourself or Hire a Tutor
Don’t have the money for dyslexia tutoring? Do not fret, you can teach your dyslexic child yourself. The PRIDE Reading Program is heavily scripted out. Parents can follow the script step-by-step. The Teaching Guide is online and easy to follow. Your child has a workbook that they write in, and is also given manipulatives such as a sound chart, phoneme cards, letter tiles, and more. There are also training videos that parents can use each step of the way. It is super easy to use.
Not comfortable tutoring your own child? You can always hire a tutor for $10-$12 an hour and give them the PRIDE Reading Program to use.
“How Expensive is it?”
The PRIDE Reading Program will cost you a monthly subscription of $89 a month or a $39/month self-print version. You can pick your own tutor that you like and works nicely with your child, or you can teach your child yourself. Either way, your child will receive the dyslexia tutoring that they need and you will be able to afford it.
