All PRIDE Onsite Reading Specialists must review and adhere to the following Guidelines:

Reading Specialist should arrive at student’s house or meeting location on time, ready to teach and be professionally and appropriately dressed. 

Reading Specialist agrees that a parent/guardian/chaperone (18 years of age or older) of the student will be present at the session location during the entire lesson.

Reading Specialist agrees not to enter the home if parent/guardian/chaperone is not at the location.

Reading Specialist agrees not to drive student and or parent/guardian/chaperone anywhere at any time.

It is the Reading Specialist‘s responsibility to manage their schedule.  If the Reading Specialist will be late to their appointment, the Reading Specialist must contact the student’s parent/guardian at least 15 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment.  As the Reading Specialist, you are representing PRIDE. Showing up late for appointments is frustrating to the Parent and Student.  Any trend in tardiness is grounds for removal from an assignment.

If Reading Specialist is unable to make a scheduled teaching session, Reading Specialist must first contact the Staff Coordinator immediately by phone, text or email. Then contact the Parent to cancel and reschedule their appointment.  As the Reading Specialist, you are representing PRIDE.  Canceled appointments are frustrating to the Parent and Student.  Any trend in cancellations is grounds for removal from an assignment.

If the student and parent/guardian/chaperone are not at the location at the scheduled lesson time, the Reading Specialist agrees to wait at least 15 minutes for them to arrive.  If they arrive within that time, the lesson will continue for the remainder of the scheduled session.

If the student and parent/guardian/chaperone do not arrive, Reading Specialist agrees to contact the Staff Coordinator immediately.

Reading Specialist agrees to never teach a student in his/her bedroom or behind closed doors.  When teaching at a public place, Reading Specialist agrees to teach in an open area.  Under no circumstance will the teaching occur in a private room with a closed door.  Doors and blinds are to remain open at all times.

The Reading Specialist will only be paid for their scheduled teaching sessions.  Any discussions with the parents on student progress should be held during the scheduled lesson time.  

Reading Specialist agrees to complete student notes and attendance confirmation prior to leaving your lesson.  The last 5 minutes of your scheduled appointment are for organizing student materials and completing your administrative tasks. 

Reading Specialist agrees to contact the Staff Coordinator regarding requests for changes in the number of lessons and/or changes in schedules, time, and locations.

Reading Specialist agrees to NEVER change the number of contracted sessions, times, or location with a client until first discussing it with the Staff Coordinator.

If the Reading Specialist or the client cancels a session, Reading Specialist must reschedule the missed session with-in the current month.  Clients must make up any missed session(s) within the same month as the missed session(s).

Reading Specialist may mark as missed, any session canceled with less than 12 hours notice or no-show by the student’s parent.

Reading Specialist is responsible their first meeting with the student to implement the PRIDE Placement and to order the student materials through the PRIDE Reading Program website.  PRIDE materials and books are shipped directly to the students home.   They must remain with the student at all times.  The Reading Specialist will not take any PRIDE materials and books from the student’s home.

Reading Specialist is responsible for ordering new student materials through the PRIDE Reading Program website when the student is ready to progress to next level.  Prior to ordering new student materials Reading Specialist will verify with Parent and Staff Coordinator the student will be continuing with PRIDE into the next level.

The Reading Specialist agrees to NEVER discuss any learning disabilities or attempt to diagnose a student.  If a parent asks the opinion of the Reading Specialist,  the Reading Specialist agrees to state that they are not qualified to give an opinion on Learning Disabilities and it is the policy of PRIDE Learning Centers LLC. for Reading Specialist to refer all questions of this nature to the Director at PRIDE.  If requested by the Parent/Guardian, the Reading Specialist may refer Parent/Guardian to the Director at PRIDE Learning Center if Parent/Guardian would like more information or any referrals for testing or therapies.

Reading Specialist agrees to implement only the PRIDE Reading Program during their PRIDE sessions.  At no time is outside school work, outside materials or outside programs to be introduced or used during PRIDE sessions. Reading Specialist agrees to only speak positively about the PRIDE Reading Program with the Parent or Student.  If in the opinion of the Reading Specialist, the student is not progressing with the PRIDE program, it is the Reading Specialist responsibility to contact the Staff Coordinator for additional training and advice as to how to keep the student on track.

Reading Specialist agrees that the parent has hired PRIDE to implement the PRIDE Reading Program through a PRIDE Reading Specialist. Reading Specialist agrees that any recommendations for changes in or from the PRIDE program will be delivered by the PRIDE Education Director.

Reading Specialist agrees that any deviation from the above will be considered a violation of PRIDE company policies and at the discretion of PRIDE management may subject the Reading Specialist to disciplinary action up to termination.
